… Anything is possible when we put our trust in our Father the Creator and our Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
— Pastor Brian Harris, MCUTS student
That’s what Pastor Brian Harris, a junior in the MCUTS program, says is the most important truth he has learned in his training thus far. Harris is the founding pastor of the four-year-old Bibleway World Outreach in Oakland, Tennessee. With a vision for community service, the church is involved in numerous projects, such as a recently-launched pilot program that provides mentorship to troubled girls in a local high school.
After 13 years in ministry, Harris was drawn to MCUTS by a radio spot and calls his study here a “divine appointment and an answered prayer.” He cites course content, affordability and flexibility in scheduling as factors that helped enable him to pursue his degree.
We recently caught up with Pastor Harris via phone and asked him about his MCUTS experience and how it influenced his ministry.
MCUTS: What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned through the experience?
Pastor Harris: The coursework has been tremendously helpful. The friendships formed I believe are for a lifetime. The social interaction in the classroom is priceless. Meeting deadlines and getting things done are sometimes tough, but worth it. If I have to pick one I would say that I’ve learned that anything is possible when we put our trust in our Father the Creator and our Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
MCUTS: What did you hope to learn when you enrolled?
Pastor Harris: I came in hoping to learn the missing pieces that make up the building blocks I need to fulfill the call of God on my life.
MCUTS: How has the experience helped you in your ministry?
Pastor Harris: I listened to stories, testimonies, and ideas of my peers that fueled encouragement, motivation and even ideas within me for ministry. It has taken my study and preparation to another level and has greatly influenced my teaching and preaching ability. I believe those that hear me have been blessed by MCUTS as well.
MCUTS: What would you say to a student who is considering MCUTS?
Pastor Harris: If you are serious about school and you find yourself at MCUTS, talking to a current or former student, with a piece of literature in hand, or watching or listening to an ad, then it is probably by divine appointment that you find yourself in this place. If you are looking for quality education that will enhance you and your ministry that will allow you to form life-long meaningful relationships, then MCUTS is the place for you.
